Dr. Molly Russo is inMind’s Lead Assessment Clinician and Consultant. She received her doctorate degree from the Wright Institute. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in department of General Psychiatry and her predoctoral internship at Access Institute for Psychological Services. Prior to this, she spent her graduate training working in various community mental health settings. Dr. Russo is dedicated to integrating relevant sociocultural issues into the discussion of clinical practice. She is currently the Program Division Chair for the Northern California’s Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology and serves on their board and executive committee. Dr. Russo has a particular clinical interest in thinking about implicit bias, specifically how this gets played out around gender.

She wrote her dissertation on transgender healthcare and implicit bias in the medical field, and is interested in working in conjunction with medical providers to educate them on the workings of unconscious bias. and has lectured on the topic of transgender healthcare at conferences and in educational settings. Additionally, she has clinical interests in identity development and psychoanalytic theory. She has extensive experience working with individuals coping with depression, anxiety, identity or life transition, trauma, and relationship issues. Dr. Russo is dedicated to understanding where problematic patterns begin and utilizes the therapeutic relationship to help her patients notice how and when old relationship dynamics are occurring inside and outside of the therapy room. She helps reduce stress by supporting patients in making meaningful change in their lives by helping them gain access to a full range of emotional experience, thus living fuller lives. In addition to conducting assessments at In Mind, Dr. Russo also sees patients at The Clinic in Berkeley and San Francisco.
